Sustainable Food & Beer at Earth Day Texas
Earth Day Texas is a three-day FREE event held April 22-24 to celebrate progress, hope, and innovation in environmental conservationism & sustainability; and is the largest event in the world of its kind. Earth Day Texas brings together environmental organizations, businesses, academic institutions, government agencies, speakers, interactive programming, and subject matter experts along with live music and sustainable beer and food pavilions. Earth Day Texas creates a fun and engaging atmosphere for thought and experiential learning while encouraging attendees to be the change they wish to see in the world.
For the first time this year, EDTx is partnering with popular events Savor Dallas and Untapped Beer and Music Fest to introduce special sustainable cuisine adaptations of these popular events that will be available every day of the event.
The inaugural Savor Dallas Sustainable Food Market will highlight top chefs, restaurants, and distributors who are known for crafting fresh, healthy, chef-inspired food options in North Texas. Located in the vicinity of the Untapped Sustainable Beer Garden, the Savor Dallas Food Market, curated by Chef Chad Houser of Café Momentum, will feature an array of tasty food options that will be served Friday to Sunday during the following times: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.– 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to explore the many wonderful fresh and inspired menu options available.
In the Savor Dallas Sustainable Food Market, confirmed restaurants include: Americano, Bbbop, Café Momentum, The Common Table, Crisp Salad Company, Down to Earth, Front Room Tavern, Garden Café, Kalachandji’s, Lockhart’s Smokehouse, Nature’s Plate,Patina Green, Pink Magnolia, Salum, Small Brewpub, START: Real Food Fast, State and Allen, Stock and Barrel, Tacodeli, The Porch, and Unleavened.
Sample cards for the Savor Dallas Sustainable Food Market will be available for $5 each per sampling session, entitling card-holders to one hearty sample from each of the popular restaurants serving in the selected session (11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and/or 3 p.m.– 6 p.m daily). Each session will feature six of the more than twenty restaurants participating throughout the weekend.
Popular Concessions and Sampling
In addition to the restaurants featured in the Food Market, EDTx also will play host to a variety of unique sustainable and local food vendors providing samples, snacks, and festival-friendly meals. Among some of the more notable examples are Little Herds, an educational nonprofit teaching the next generation about the value of edible insects, NadaMoo, an Austin-based vegan dairy-free non-GMO ice cream company, and Gardein, a vegetable-based meat alternative.
Other food vendors include Buda Juice, Samson’s Gourmet Hot Dogs and D-Lish.
The very first Untapped Sustainable Beer Garden will feature breweries that champion environmentally responsible practices, along with live music entertainment from the EDTx Music Stage and eco-educational opportunities. The Beer Garden will be open to attendees Friday to Sunday from 12 noon to 6 p.m., providing a brief escape where event-goers can relax and recharge while raising a glass to advancements in sustainable living.
Confirmed breweries in this area include: Alaskan Brewing Company, Deschutes Brewery, Franconia Brewing Company, Full Sail Brewing, Harpoon Brewing, Odell Brewing Co., Real Ale Brewing Company, SanTan Brewing, Sierra Nevada, and Uinta Brewing.
Sample cards for the Untapped Sustainable Beer Garden also are also available for $5 each for use in sampling six, two-ounce samples of beer. Full pours and additional sampling cards will be available for purchase in the Beer Garden.
