One of the most beautiful things about Savor Dallas 2017, presented by Goody Goody, is celebrating the city’s vast and vibrant culinary landscape. And, with more than 75 participating chefs and restaurants across the festival, there will be no shortage of tastes to experience.

But, even more than the festival’s rich epicurean extravaganza, is the opportunity to celebrate the culinary leaders like our honorary host chef Chad Houser of Café Momentum.

While Chef Houser’s food might be called life-changing, that term is best reserved for his Café Momentum, a Dallas-based restaurant and culinary training facility that transforms young people’s lives by teaching life, social and employment skills to the city’s most at-risk youth.

A 17-year veteran in the Dallas dining scene, Chef Houser has received multiple local nods, and nationally, Chef Houser and Café Momentum have been featured on media outlets including ABC’s “The Chew,” “The Rachael Ray Show,” CBS, and The Atlantic to name a few. He has also been featured on “The Hero Effect” on Oprah Winfrey Network.

We couldn’t be more honored to have Chef Houser lead Savor Dallas, and he’ll be serving up a must-try dish at the Grand Tasting—taramosalata with crispy potato skin and fresh pea shoots. 1. Where do you travel to for inspiration?
My favorite places to travel are places that immerse me in a completely foreign culture.  At the top of my list was my trip to Lebanon.

2. Something people would be surprised to know about you?
I hate bananas and raisins.

3. Tell us three words to describe your cooking style.
Simple, comfy, clean.

4. If you could cook for one person, who would it be?
My mom.

5. What are you most looking forward to at The Grand Tasting?
The incredible variety of food and cooking styles!

6. Most memorable culinary moment you’ve had?
Cooking risotto for 30 guests at a catering event on the client’s stove and it broke!

7. What would you never be caught cooking?
Toenails.

8. What were you like in high school?
Very boring. I was class president, though, so there’s that.

9. Chicken or beef? Or neither?
Beef.

10. When you go to a restaurant, what is your go-to dish?
That’s a loaded question…
